VDP4 - Color Scheme Variants
In the last class we started to dive into the fundamentals of Color Theory where we found that colors can represent a number of characteristics and emotions. So we explored that further by creating a set of "scenes" (pallets) representing a set of emotions. There were a few to choose from.
- Romantic, Calming, Meditative
- Soft, Warm, Soothing
- Cold, Unknown
- Warm, Inviting
- Scary, Mysterious, Unfamiliar
- Life
- Death
In addition we were to think about these colors and their meanings to create a pallet for our character.
The character that I chose in my game is the male counterpart (the Warrior) of the main character. While "Warrior" is their title, they aren't much of one in their mind. They don't think or act like the others and, in many ways, feel outcast. After the death of their sister, who'd been a true Warrior, they are struck with numbness and grief.
I chose a Double Split Complementary pallet, with purples and blues that range in emotion from grief to amazement, along with a soft yellow and vibrant orange to represent some form of serenity and intense energy deep within the character. These won't be the only colors of course, but as they are very representative of the character I want them to stand out in aspects of the outfit and key items.
